Manual Handling Training Policy Moria Services 1. Policy Statement Moria Services is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees, contractors, and learners. As required under the **Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005**, we provide adequate instruction and training in manual handling to prevent workplace injuries and promote safe work practices. 2. Purpose This policy outlines the provision of Manual Handling Training in accordance with Irish legislation. The aim is to ensure that all individuals involved in manual handling tasks are trained to perform them safely and in compliance with legal requirements. 3. Legal Framework This policy complies with: - **Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005** - **Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007**, Chapter 4 of Part 2 – Manual Handling of Loads Under these regulations, employers must: - Avoid manual handling where reasonably practicable - Assess the risk of injury from manual handling tasks - Provide training and instruction where manual handling cannot be avoided 4. Scope This policy applies to: - All employees involved in manual handling activities - Participants enrolled in Manual Handling Training courses provided by Moria Services - Contractors and temporary staff, where relevant 5. Training Delivery Manual Handling Training will: - Be delivered by a QQI Level 6 Certified Manual Handling Instructor - Include both theory and practical elements - Cover topics such as: - Legislation and duties - Anatomy of the spine and injury risks - Safe lifting techniques - Ergonomics and risk assessment - Be tailored, where possible, to the specific tasks performed by learners 6. Certification & Records - Participants will receive a Manual Handling Certificate valid for 2 years upon successful completion. - Training records will be maintained in compliance with data protection legislation and reviewed annually. 7. Review & Compliance - This policy will be reviewed annually or in line with legislative changes. - Non-compliance with this policy may result in disciplinary action, as it could pose serious health and safety risks. 8. Cancellation Policy Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled training session. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the session may be subject to a cancellation fee or forfeiture of the booking.
